<itunes:summary>WinNW.com was originally launched as SkagitRadio.com in the summer of 2008. In the fall of 2009, it became apparent that the market for online play by play of high school sports existed in Snohomish and Whatcom counties as well, so SkagitRadio.com became WinNW.com to reflect our new regional focus.

WinNW.com emerged from the efforts of a group of long-time broadcasters from Skagit and Whatcom counties deciding that area sports fans and student athletes deserve professional coverage and quality play-by-play of a wider variety of high school sports than existing AM radio broadcasters have provided in recent years.</itunes:summary>

Dismal shooting to open the game and at the start of the second half doomed the La Conner boys, who nearly overcame a 20 point deficit before losing to Chief Leschi 49-43. The Braves didn’t make a field goal for the first five minutes of the game, and repeated that poor performance during the first four minutes of the second half.

The Lady Loggers of Darrington earned a trip to the state tournament by defeating La Conner for the third time this season, sending the Lady Braves to the consolation bracket with 35-28 win.

Next up for the La Conner boys will be Shoreline Christian at 6:30 p.m. Friday. The Lady Braves will match up with Northwest 2B League rival Orcas Island Friday at 8:15 p.m. The winners will earn a berth into next week’s state tournament in Spokane while the season will come to an end for the losers.

With the victory, the defending state 2A champion and number one ranked Storm (12-0 NWC, 18-1 season) secured the Northwest Conference championship and No. 1 seed into the Northwest District 2A tournament, while the Tigers, ranked third in the state (10-2 NWC, 16-3 season), will enter the district tournament as the No. 2 seed. Both Burlington-Edison and Squalicum will host district tournament games Friday, February 26.

Evan Coulter led Burlington-Edison with 28 points, including 13 in the fourth quarter, and hit two 3-pointers in making 11 of 19 shots, most while surrounded by Squalicum defenders. Craig Babington was the only other Tiger to score in double figures, with 10.

Squalicum center Michael Greene was more than the Tigers could handle with 19 points on 9 of 11 shooting, eight rebounds, and four assists before fouling out with 26 seconds remaining. Storm hero Thompson scored 13 points with four 3-pointers and Derek Dickerson added 12 points on four 3-pointers as Squalicum outscored Burlington-Edison 27-15 from beyond the arc. Point guard Patrick Voeut scored 12 points and added a game-high five assists for the Storm.

The game featured 12 lead changes, six ties, the teams scored identical totals in the first and third quarters, and Squalicum outscored the Tigers by just one point each in the second and fourth quarters for the two point victory.
