About WinNW
WinNW.com was officially launched on January 1, 2010, emerging from the efforts of a group of veteran broadcasters from Skagit and Whatcom counties who shared an impassioned commitment to serve sports fans in Northwest Washington and worldwide with live webcasts of a wider variety of high school and other local sports than have ever been broadcast by area radio stations. WinNW.com was originally SkagitRadio.com, founded in the fall of 2008.
Our team at WinNW.com is dedicated to providing entertaining, informative, professional quality live play-by-play of Whatcom, Island, and Snohomish County high school sports, featuring Lynden, Bellingham, Blaine, Ferndale, Lynden Christian, Meridian, Mount Baker, Nooksack Valley, Sehome, and Squalicum, playing in the Northwest Conference 3A, 2A, and 1A classifications, and adding Oak Harbor Wildcats’ high school football webcasts during the 2010 season,
Along with traditional coverage of high school football and boys’ basketball, WinNW.com covers sports previously ignored by area radio stations, including live play-by-play of girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ wrestling, baseball, fast-pitch softball, and auto racing, all of which had either never aired locally or hadn’t been heard since current members of our WinNW.com team originally broadcast those sports during the 1980’s and 1990’s.
Scot Buchanan joined our team at WinNW.com in the fall of 2009, reuniting in the press box with John Fasso for our football webcasts. A University of Washington and B-EHS alum, Scot also contributes quality play-by-play of boys’ and girls’ basketball.
Along with his excellent analysis and commentary during our high school football webcasts, Scot is best known for his play-by-play alongside Fred Lee when Mark Hendrickson led the Mount Vernon Bulldogs to back-to-back state 3A basketball championships.
John Fasso joined our team at WinNW.com as our first play-by-play voice for football and basketball. A well-known veteran of newspaper, radio, local cable TV, and now internet news and sports reporting, John’s resume’ includes play-by-play of auto racing, baseball, basketball, football, softball, track and field, and wrestling.
John was the starting tight-end for the 1977 Washington State 2A football champion Burlington-Edison Tigers, attended Wenatchee Valley College on a football scholarship, and played 10 seasons of semi pro football with the Skagit Valley Raiders.
